On Saturday 10th September 2022, we had a BIG party to celebrate the
handing over of the farming operations at East Hill Farm to Frankie Guy.
The process was very bumpy. Farming successions can end up with
family break-ups, divorce, punch-ups, law suits and more.
In every war, there are casualties, but we made it through.
Frankie and Mike, her fiancé, are now in the main farmhouse with Frankie fully in charge.
Gilly and Richard remain within the curtilage of the family home in Annexodus - right next door.
Transubstantiation accomplished!
Richard Guy moved to East Hill Farm in September 1979, aged just twenty five.Seen here showing some chums round the farm forty three years later, he is moving on to other things whilst being on hand to help or advise, if required.
Frankie took the scenic route into farming. Collecting a good degree from UCL, she had a good shot at non farmy things and lived in New Zealand for three years before returning. Her personal investment in terms of blood, sweat and some tears allows the family farming enterprise to go forth confidently through the twenty first century.
